Challenge

I remember, many weeks ago, when Jaclyn and I first began the One Hundred Push Up Challenge, that sixty seconds between sets seemed like a long time. Not only that, on Day Two you got 90 seconds between sets and on Day Three an eternity (or so it felt); 120 seconds between sets.

Oh how I long for those days. Today was day Two of the repeated Week Three and 90 seconds felt more like a blink of an eye than a full minute and a half. However, I have wisely moved back to the Intermediate level and was thusly rewarded with two bonus push ups during my max (final) set.

Jaclyn and I had a conversation this morning and we both agree this will likely take double the six weeks specified by the program. The blogoshpere seems to agree that repeat weeks are to be expected and even the One Hundred Push Ups site notes that you may need to repeat a week here and there.

Here's to perseverence over the long haul.

Stay Home

I do not want to see Brett Favre play another down. I don't care if it is with the Green Bay Packers or an Arena Football Team. I have loved watching Favre play ever since he stepped in for an injured Don Majkowski in September of 1992, but this soap opera "retired/comeback" is sheer madness. Enough is enough.

Favre went out near the top, which is a luxury for most athletes. His hinting at retirement for the last several years and his "do over" once he finally retired is as worn as a tire with over 100,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, for his legacy, anything short of a Super Bowl if he does return will only tarnish the legend of a personality who is now likened to a spoiled three year-old.

Some may disagree and cite Favre's love of the game and also point out that Favre still has something left to give. I understand the sentiment and agree to a certain extent. But I want to remember Favre for resurrecting a little team in Wisconsin and making the Packers relevant again (with a load of help from Reggie White) and not as a preening diva.

Sorry Brett. Thanks for the memories. No thanks to a comeback.

Comments

I wasn't paying attention to details this morning. I grabbed a pair of pants and then a shirt for the 4-year old.

We were eating breakfast when his dad asked if he was playing the part of Brett Favre. Apparently I dressed him in dark green pants and a yellow shirt.

For a minute, I thought I was going to have to make him change his clothes.
