The Raw and the Cooked
It seems like just a few short hours ago that Jaclyn and I went to bed. Hold on a minute; it was just a few short hours ago that we went to bed. Sleep was not a priority, and was indeed in short supply, this weekend as we had to get our home ready for photography.
Two people, two rooms, two days - Trading Spaces can kiss my ass. You know there is an unseen army of minions doing every last task. I am in definite need of some minions as I feel I spent the last three days playing the role of a punching bag for a young Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali).
My fingers are so raw, I think I can pull off a crime and not leave finger prints (note to self: plan major heist - do not execute). Jaclyn is not doing too good herself. For some reason on each successive day she felt the need to try and out do the bruise from the previous day. Sometimes I do not understand women. But I am there because I care!
We have managed to get the house in good enough shape to have pictures taken. The biggest change is the bar/sitting room transformation. I wish I would have taken before/after pictures.
Before, every male's fantasy - a man cave dedicated to great beer. A place where happy hour is Sunday - Monday. A room that feels like a pub and invites you to sit back and relax as you enjoy a cold one.
Now, a librarian's wet dream. A sitting room that invites you to curl up with a Jane Austen novel and a cup of bamboo infused tea.
(My apologies for stereotyping librarians)
Most unfortunate. Unfortunate indeed. Men really need to exert themselves and play a bigger role in home buying.
Listening to: All the Young Dudes - Mott the Hoople
We never buy into those shows on HGTV that show 2 or 3 people doing the work. The one that's the most rehearsed in the one that Clive does - I can't remember the name but they come in and stage it, then have people (aka very bad actors) come through for an open house.
But they never mention that the house was sold! Or if they recouped their cost, etc.
I didn't want to hassle with selling and buying at the same time, so I gambled on carrying 2 mortgages for a while (it worked; only 2 months). So we sold a house that was completely empty. Nothing to stage, which was a bummer after all we learned watching that show.
