Happy Trails!

Welcome dwellers of the third rock.

Day #2 at the Seabrook Marathon and Half Marathon. Good crowd on hand for both races that commenced just after sunrise under cloudy skies. Coach Doug was out running the full marathon and there were a plethora of other Knuckleheads on the course for the half  marathon including, Ruthie, Joe, Danny, Angus, Kathleen, Monica and Cheryl, who was running her second half in as many days. Other folks running the Seabrook Challenge and doing their second half this weekend were Abbie, Sarah and Christy. Both taking it easy today after strong runs yesterday. Sarah also has a good picture of the swag those of us who did two races in two days received - BLING!

I must also report that the Man of Action, Keith Kelleher was in action again today. This time running the first loop of the Relay.

This fresh looking dude (just 3/10ths from the finish) is yours truly who not only set a PR, but finally busted the two hour barrier. Unofficially 1:57:17 and breaking my old record by nearly four minutes. By the way, the photo is courtesy of hot supporter babe Jaclyn, who also doubles as my wife on occasion.

The course was in much better shape today, with only one or two areas where mud was a concern. My time was around 1:00:16 for the first loop, so there is a negative split to go in there as well. The run did not necessarily go as planned, but you will get no complaints from me. I went out a little faster than I intended, but there was some fonk brain just behind me who had the thresholds on his watch (either pace or heart rate) set too close together. His frickin' watch was whistling every ten to fifteen seconds and driving me nuts. Must get away from freakzoid.

I had a stop just after lap one to drop off my water bottle with the aforementioned hot supporter babe and also dump the pebbles out of my shoes. Ah yes, the joys of a trail run...

Another good day for the supporters, although it looked like there were fewer today than yesterday. Regardless, they did a fantastic job. Once again, the BARC folks had the best water stop, bar none. Which leads me to Mr. Fantastic. I am, of course, speaking of Joe Carey, who shared a Guinness with me as a post race PR celebration. Love Ya Joe! Just stop trying to trade my wife for some magic beans...

I got to see everybody except Doug finish. I would have liked to have hung around longer, but I had lunch plans with my Dad - BW3. Yum!

Dude, a PR? You rock! Very very cool.

As for the pebbles, I just ran with 'em in my shoes the whole time. I figured if I dumped them out, I'd just pick up more. :)

Wow, congrats on the huge PR!!! Very impressive! I'm with Sarah on the pebbles, I just left them in.

Woo-hoo! What a great PR!! Congrats!
